Simple Mistakes You're Making On IG

Updated: Jun 17, 2019

As bloggers, we love to promote our content on Instagram. And why not? With about a billion users each month, Instagram is a constant growing hot spot for bloggers and brands. Brands are constantly looking for bloggers and influencers to collaborate and promote their products. Approaching my fourth year as a blogger, I've tried it all to land collaborations and sponsorships with brands. The most simple change to my Instagram yielded the greatest results.

1. IT'S ALL IN THE EMAIL.

As a blogger, you should have a professional email linked to your blog. Purchasing an email for your blog is quick and easy. I swear by G Suite and recommend it to any blogger or creative. Get your custom business email here.  Having your custom email address (ie. hello@coffeeandkendra.com) let's brands know you're serious about your blog. Associating the name of your blog to your professional email address adds a buzz of interest to potential clients.

Can you just imagine receiving an email from collabwithcoffeeandkendra@yahoo.com instead of hello@coffeeandkendra.com. Chances are it will remain unopened or ignored.

Now that you have your email -- use it!

In each of my social posts promoting my blog, I make sure to include my email for collaborations. If a brand notices my post, they won't have to dig through a sea of pictures or previous blog posts to know how to reach me. My email is readily available on the post!

2. MAKE USE OF HASHTAGS

Well ofcouse! Making use of hashtags on social media is one of the easiest ways you can promote your content. Hashtags connect your content with other people talking about the same thing or looking for information about something. So, if you write an article about Spring Favorites Under $30 and use the #SpringFavorites hashtag, more people will find your content.

3. UPDATE YOUR BIO

You Instagram bio of your is the place where people instantly look to when determining what your content is about and why they should follow and eventually collaborate with you. They have obviously landed on your page for one reason or another, so make the BEST of your first impression! The Instagram bio is also the only place you can include a clickable URL to your blog or another platform, so ensure you use the most effective URL.
